While it is a common problem, it's one that is preventable. Not only can we help you prevent it, but we can help you get rid of it. As your local BioGuard pool chemical dealer, you can count on us to have the best products on the market. In addition, if you bring us a water sample, we can test it for you for free. You then get a computerized printout of just what your pool water needs. Now, let's look at the problem of algae. ## How to Prevent Algae You need to add algicide to your swimming pool for proper pool maintenance. Sanitizers or shock/oxidizers alone may not keep algae at bay.  So, you don't want to skip the algicide because this step is needed to keep your pool completely clear of any growth. ## Do all Algicides Kill Algae? Not all algicides are alike. Only algicides that have been approved by the EPA for killing algae actually kill it. All BioGuard products are thoroughly reviewed and proven effective. Various kinds of algae may require different treatments to ensure they are eliminated. We carry several different types of algicide: ![banish](https://blog.spartanpoolandpatio.com/hs-fs/hubfs/banish.webp?width=187&height=187&name=banish.webp) ## Banish Banish kills algae once you see it in your swimming pool. - This premium formula is highly effective and kills ALL types of algae. - Fast-acting, non-foaming, Banish produces results in 24 hours. - You can use it in chlorine or bromine pools with all surfaces or filter types. ## ![algae all 60](https://blog.spartanpoolandpatio.com/hs-fs/hubfs/algae%20all%2060.webp?width=193&height=193&name=algae%20all%2060.webp) ## Algae All 60 Algae All 60 prevenets algae from appearing with routine weekly maintenance. - Excellent for use with pools with attached spas or fountains. - Works in chlorinated or brominated pools. - Prevents all types of algae. - Can be used with the 3-Step BioGuard Care System. ## ![algae complete](https://blog.spartanpoolandpatio.com/hs-fs/hubfs/algae%20complete.webp?width=192&height=192&name=algae%20complete.webp) ## Algae Complete Algae Complete prevents algae from appearing and kill it once it has. - Complete and great performing algicide. - Dual active ingredients to both prevent and kill algae. - Non-staining and non-foaming. - Can be used with the BioGuard 3-Step Care System ## Final Thoughts If you're ready to prevent and kill existing algae, come see us today.
